The city of Grace is snuggled in a beautiful valley located in southeastern Idaho just thirty (30) miles from an interstate highway and one (1) hours travel from two large cities, Pocatello, Idaho and Logan, Utah. Grace has a population of approximately 1000 people in addition to the many families residing throughout the valley. In general, life is not as hectic here as it is in the more urban areas and is very conducive to raising a family or retirement.
The Grace City Council, along with the Grace Chamber of Commerce and the Grace Economic Development Corporation, are very interested in promoting the economic growth of this area by encouraging families and small businesses to move to Grace. Grace has traditionally been a "Bedroom Community" with many wage earners commuting the ten (12) miles to Soda Springs to work at the heavy industry sites. However, the number of job opportunities in Grace are increasing. We now have our own small business industrial park that is
home to Heritage Safe Company, a major manufacture of gun safes. It is
also the home of Biotech Nutrients, the manufacture of an excellent fertilizer. A new subdivision offering 22 building lots with paved streets, city sewer and water and underground utilities has been developed with room for future expansion.
Grace enjoys an excellent school system and Grace School District # 148 has always been a state leader in the quality of education provided for our youth. A new 530 seat auditorium was completed in the summer of 1997
and further improves our educational system. Upon graduation, many of our students receive scholarships and continue their education close to home. Utah State University and Idaho State University are both within an hours travel of Grace.
Grace has a myriad of tourist attractions near by, such as Lava Hot Springs and the restored township of Chesterfield, both only about twenty (20) miles away. Nearby Soda Springs has the worlds only controlled geyser. Other sites include Black Canyon, a nationally renowned white water area, the ice caves, the Oregon Trail with authentic pioneer burial sites, and five (5) challenging public golf courses within forty (40) minutes travel time. This area is also known for it great hunting and fishing. Deer, elk, geese, ducks, grouse, trout, and many other species are in great abundance.
Grace is fortunate to have both City and County fire protection and an ambulance with trained E.M.T.'s is stationed in the City limits. The
Grace Clinic has a dentist, a medical doctor and a physicians assistant that all
see patients there on a regular basis. It is located just ten (12) miles from physicians and the Caribou Memorial Hospital. Law enforcement for our community is supplied by the Caribou County Sheriff's Department. Several of their officers live in our community. The crime rate is low and in Grace you can feel safe in walking the streets at night or leaving your home unattended for a period of time.
